Second Year
Year 7
Year 7 consists of students aged 11 – 12. They are the babies of the academy. They are encouraged to focus on studies rather than extra curricular activities. Year 7’s often look up to the older students at the academy. They study every subject.
Year 8
Year 8 consits of students aged 12 – 13. They have a little bit more freedom that Year 7’s and often lend a helping hand to the younger ones. They study every subject.
Year 9
Year 9 consists of students aged 13 – 14. They are seen as some of the third most important group of students in the school. Year 9’s spend most of the year talking to teachers about the 5 subjects they want to continue with into the next year. They study all subjects.
Year 10
Year 10 consists of students aged 14 – 15. These are the start of the more mature students in the school. Most of these know the rules and we find there are fewer detentions from now on. They study five of their chosen subjects.
Year 11
Year 10 consists of students aged 15 – 16. These are seen as the second most important pupils in the school. As well as sitting major exams in the summer term they have to decide which two subjects to drop and which to continue on with when they become first years. They study five of their chosen subjects.
First Year
First Year consists of students aged 16 – 17. They generally keep their heads down and work hard. Although they are studying fewer subjects the courses are much more intense. They study three of their chosen subjects.
Second Year
Second Year consists of students aged 17 – 18. They are seen as the most important students in the school. They will sit some of the most important exams of their lives in the summer term. Throughout the year they will have to pick and apply to different universities which is very time consuming. They study three subjects.
